Indian food can be quite spicy. That is why Raita is often eaten with it, a yoghurt dip that can be prepared in different ways. We received the recipe below from Gaby.

Preparation

Step 1: Grind the herbs

  • Heat a pan and roast the cumin, coriander seeds and black pepper until it is slightly dark.

  • Put this stuff in a mortar and pound it.


Step 2: Prepare the raita

  • Finely chop the green pepper, tomato and cucumber into small cubes.

  • Chop the red onion and finely chop the fresh mint.

  • Mix the yogurt with some salt to taste.

  • Add all the chopped products except the tomato and mix in the herbs. Set aside.

Step 3: Serve the raita

  • Add the tomato just before serving.

  • Sprinkle the raita with a little chili powder and serve.




Ingredients

For 6 people:


  • 500 grams of yoghurt

  • 0.5 tsp whole black pepper

  • 1 tsp whole coriander seeds

  • 1 tsp whole cumin seeds

  • 1 green chili pepper

  • 1 tsp fresh mint

  • 1 red onion

  • 1 tomato

  • A quarter of a cucumber

  • Salt (to taste)

  • Chili powder (to taste)
