Easy
Would you like a snack other than chips or cheese cubes for drinks or a birthday? Then try these Antillean cheese balls! This snack will rarely be missing at a party in the Antilles. The great thing about this dish is that you only need a few ingredients, because it mainly consists of egg, cheese and a little flour. Tip: make lots of cheese balls right away and freeze the raw balls. This way you always have fresh and unique snacks at home.
Preparation
Step 1. Make the dough
Beat the eggs and mix in the grated cheese.
Then add the flour little by little. Then add the baking powder and salt and pepper to taste. Knead everything together well.
Does the dough still feel too wet? Then add a little bit of flour (not too much, because it should taste mainly like cheese). Does the dough feel too dry? Then add a little water.
Let the dough rest for a while. In the meantime, read Rychell's story about, among other things, the Antillean food culture!
Step 2. Form and fry the balls
Form small balls from the dough. The balls will eventually become larger because the dough expands due to the baking powder.
Heat the sunflower oil in a deep pan until it is hot.
Fry the balls until they are a nice golden yellow color. Keep a close eye on it, because it can go fast.
